Mer-Manatee Original Leather Art

Folklorists believe that the original stories of mermaids came from sailors spotting manatees under the water. This fun piece of original leather art celebrated that story and the serenity of the Florida Manatee! A mermaid that is half manatee relaxes in the shallows, surrounded by native Florida plants.

This original piece of art started from my own drawing and then is tooled into leather. It is painted with artist acrylic paints and leather dyes. It is mounted on wood and is ready to hang. This finished piece of art measures 14 inches by 11 inches.
